Computers for Kids

Enhance At-Home Learning

We collaborate with Computers for Kids, Inc and the State Department of Education, Division of Special Education (SDE) to offer computers to Idaho students with disabilities for free.

The program focuses on providing refurbished computers to eligible students. Funding is also available to provide computers to rural schools for use in resource rooms.

Our goal is to ensure that students with disabilities can enhance their education through the use of technology both at home and in school.

Student Eligibility and Application

There are limited funds available each year to help students with disabilities receive a refurbished computer for home use. To qualify for this program, your child must:

  • live in Idaho
  • be in public school (K-12), and
  • have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) in place.

IATP, SDE and Computers for Kids will cover all fees and costs associated with processing computers for distribution.

To apply for a computer, you need to:

  1. Complete the K-12 Student Application (PDF).
  2. Your child must complete an essay or draw a picture describing/showing why they want the computer and what educational use it will serve.
  3. Send the completed application and essay/picture to IATP.

Rural School Eligibility and Application

Limited funds are also available to pay for computers for Idaho rural school district resource rooms. To qualify for this program, your district must be serving students with disabilities who have an IEP in place.

All applications must be obtained and processed through the IATP office to qualify.

To apply for a computer, you need to:

  1. Download and complete the Rural School District Application (PDF).
  2. Send the completed application to IATP.
