Training and Events
School-based Training
The Idaho Assistive Technology Project offers statewide training on a variety of AT devices and computer software and is available to teams and/or school districts free of charge. Trainings can be targeted toward specific teams as a follow-up for recent or past student assessments. In addition, trainings can be provided for school districts as in-service on a specific device, software program, or service that may benefit a few or all students. Visit the Idaho Training Clearinghouse to see if any training events are going on in your area.
The Montgomery County Public Schools' HIAT (High Incidence Assistive Technology) Program in Maryland offers great online resource to educators and parents in the form of Quick Guides. These guides are step-by-step guides and tutorials for software programs and hardware: SOLO, Clicker 5, Inspiration, Kurzweil, PowerPoint, MathPad, and AlphaSmart just to name a few. Visit their website to see pdf versions of these great guides.
Non-School related trainings are also available on topics ranging from Assistive technology for Older Persons and Cognitive Impairments to funding AT. These trainings include the definition of AT, an overview of services provided by the Idaho Assistive Technology Project, and demonstrations of AT devices and software specific to the audience.
Events
The Idaho Assistive Technology Project is also involved in statewide events throughout the year: Tools for Life Fair, SILC Conference, and CEC Conference, are just a few.
